How to Get to Prague Castle
Prague Castle stands on Hradčany Hill, so it is useful to plan the final part of your journey in advance as well. The reference address is Hrad I. nádvoří 1, Hradčany. Among the different options available, public transport is generally the easiest way to reach the complex.
One of the most commonly used options is tram 22 to Pražský hrad. From the stop, it only takes a few minutes on foot to reach the castle entrances. Alternatively, you can take the metro to Malostranská or Hradčanská and continue by tram or on foot.
If you choose a taxi, keep in mind that the streets around the castle can be busy or subject to restrictions. You may therefore still need to walk the final part of the journey.
Getting there by car is less practical, especially because of the limited availability of parking. If possible, park outside the centre of Hradčany and reach the castle on foot.
Tip: buy your tickets online before your visit and save the digital ticket on your phone. It can also be useful to keep a screenshot of it, so that you have it available even if your internet connection is unstable.

Recommended Itinerary with a Visit to Prague Castle
Set aside around half a day for the Prague Castle area so you can visit the main points of interest without having to rush from one place to another.
Start the morning in Malá Strana, where you can have breakfast before taking tram 22 towards Pražský hrad. Arriving from the top is particularly convenient because it allows you to begin your visit without immediately facing a long uphill walk.
Once inside the complex, focus first on the monuments and areas that interest you most. Prague Castle is much larger than it may appear on the map, so it is better to follow a linear route rather than constantly retracing your steps.
After the first visits, take a short break in one of the courtyards or in one of the quieter areas of the complex. Then continue through squares, historic buildings and panoramic viewpoints without necessarily trying to see everything in a short amount of time.
If you want to move away from the most crowded areas, take a walk through the streets of Hradčany. The district has a quieter atmosphere and offers excellent views for photographing Prague.
To finish the visit, you can walk downhill towards Malostranská and stop for lunch in Malá Strana. From here, you can continue the day with a walk along the river or relax in one of the cafés in the city centre.
